Paradise Shelduck
|
Originally called the Painted Duck, the Paradise Shelduck looks like a duck but it
lives like a goose. Found only in New Zealand "Paris" spend much of their
time grazing in paddocks returning to water to raise ducklings and to moult
their feathers. Most commonly seen in strikingly different pairs, the male
has a black head and calls with a low pitched honk while the female has
a pure white head and a loud piercing call.
