Black Swan
|
Black Swan were introduced to New Zealand from Australia in the 1860's and since
then have colonised many lagoons and lakes where they may nest in large
colonies. Their red beak contrasts with their black plumage and it's marked
with a distinctive white band. When flying, Black Swans extend their long
necks and their large white wingtips are visible. They cannot be confused
with other swans as they are the only black swan in the world.
